Andy

Andy is a female Red-Lored Amazon. She is older(28) and is looking for her forever retirement home. Andy came to us with a severely over-grown beak and is still getting corrective shapings from our Avian Vet. Andy also has arthritis and may eventually need to be on some pain meds in the future for it. She does have cataracts in both eyes, she can still see but some days are better than others. Aside from old age, she is very sweet to the person she likes and chooses. She enjoys to sit with her person and just watch TV or hang out. Andy can be loud and she can be aggressive to others once she has bonded to her person. The right home would be one that has access to an avian vet regularly to continue shaping her beak and one that will allow her to live out the rest of her life without high expectations.

Andy does have a special cage requirement that is to be met!

Adoption Fee: $500(higher due to antibiotics/blood testing/constant beak shapings)

Sonny

Blue and Gold Macaw

Sonny is a 21 year old female(has laid eggs in the past) blue and gold macaw who will not tolerate men. Once you form a bond, she is very playful and sweet. She doesn’t say much, but does whistle often. Sonny has had a toe removed in July 2020 to help with pressure sores/mobility issues from an injury from a previous home. Her balance has improved but she still does use her beak to steady herself when on your arm. Sonny’s adopter needs to be a female who has large bird experience.

Ricky & Negan

Ricky is a hybrid(sulfur/Triton) and Negan is an umbrella, both are males. These boys will require an experienced home but they are both very food motivated so they are ready to start training. Ricky is a little nervous around people but we believe will quiet down in a home.

Negan is a very handsome umbrella cockatoo that is roughly 12 years old. He has had a few homes in the past but is confident now that he has a friend he will find a home. Negan is a little more outgoing than Ricky and of course tow male cockatoos will keep you on your toes so they will need an experienced home but we promise you they are worth it.

We try to set up our new bird owners the best we can so $250 of your adoption fee is used to purchase you a one year membership in Level One and the Parrot Project through the Animal Behavioral Center. This membership give you the tools needed to establish a relationship, target training, learning how to prevent negative behaviors like screaming and biting(which can be a real challenge with cockatoos). It also provides you with a community of supportive knowledgable bird owners led by Lara Joseph.

Bubbles

Bubbles is a handsome, full of life male M-2 who will be 20 years old this summer, and was in the last home for 18 years. He is a big boy and will require a cage of 60 inches long minimum, 80 by 40s are actually a great size for these guys. The adopter must have large bird experience, preferably already have cockatoos in the home, or be willing to come out here multiple times before adoption would be approved. Could also potentially be adopted out with Solomon, another male M-2. His adoption fee of 500 will include a one year membership to the Animal behavior center level one and Parrot Project. If you think you would be a good fit or are interested in being considered for adoption, please fill out our application.

Solomon

Solomon is a 15-year-old male M-2 who was owned by a girl who was a teenager when she got him and is now married. Behavior problems started shortly after the marriage, he did not want to share her and was acting out against her husband. He did go to a family friend for a little over a year but that did not work out and when he returned home he started to act out even more than before, this time not only screaming but also biting her. I find his behavior very typical of a male M-2, he is loads of fun but he needs someone who is very comfortable with him and can read his body language. He is a big boy and will require a cage of 60 inches long minimum, 80 by 40s are actually a great size for these guys. The adopter must have large bird experience, preferably already have cockatoos in the home, or be willing to come out here multiple times before adoption would be approved. Could also potentially be adopted out with Bubbles, another male M-2. His adoption fee of 500 will include a one year membership to the Animal behavior center level one and Parrot Project. If you think you would be a good fit or are interested in being considered for adoption, please fill out our application.

Lacy

Lacy is a 18-year-old DNA verified female Bare Eye cockatoo. She came from another rescue and communicated using her beak so we worked through that and I feel she is ready to a home that is willing to continue positive reinforcement training. She still struggles with the concept of stepping up but with continued training I don’t feel like it will be very difficult. She is mainly indifferent to other birds, so while she does not crave a intimate relationship yet with another bird it would definitely be a plus if there were others in the home. She is a more independent cockatoo which is why she is available to go by herself and will not be overly demanding of her person, unlike umbrellas. She has a large wing span and requires a cage at the very least 45 inches long, a 5 x 3 would be a great size cage and they are readily available on Amazon for about $600. I also have a relationship with a cage company so no matter what we can easily get her an appropriate size cage. Her adoption fee is $500 and that includes a one year online membership to Level 1 and the Parrot Project thru the Animal Behavior Center, which will provide you with all the tools you need to continue her training. If you think you would be a good fit or are interested in being considered for adoption, please fill out our adoption application.
